DO YOU KNOW?

In an effort for us all to get to know even more of the "Men of Saint Margaret's" we'll add photos and info on individuals from time to time. This allows you to put a name with the face when you enter the doors of Saint Margaret's.

Meet Roy Estes. Roy has been attending Saint Margaret's for about three years. When he's not busy at his regular job as a transport nurse, Roy works hard on Sundays making sure the sound board is manned and sermons are recorded for the website. He also serves on a breakfast team. Roy graduates tomorrow (December 14th) from Gardner-Webb with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. Join me in congratulating Roy for finishing his degree! Thanks for your help on Sunday's and job well done Roy!

KNOW A NEEDY BOY THAT COULD USE A CHRISTMAS BIKE?

Gentlemen –

I haven’t had an opportunity to become as involved as I would like to be with the Men of St Margarets just yet – but hopefully, with an improved business climate in 2010 some time will become available. In the interim – I have one item I need a small bit of help with. I have a brand new / in the box boys bicycle (12 inches) for a 3 -4 year old boy. I need some help finding a little boy who would like a bike for Christmas. I can assemble it if necessary or leave it in the box – whichever is better. I got the same bike for my kid and would really like the opportunity to make some other little boy as happy as my son was when he saw his new bike. If any of you know of a boy who needs a bike – please let me know. I can bring it by the church or drop it off at the boy’s house Christmas Eve.

Thanks in advance for the help – looking forward to getting to know y’all in 2010!

STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN WRAPPING UP!

Saint Margaret's 2010 Stewardship Campaign is in its final days. If you haven't submitted your pledge, please do so this week. The vestry uses the pledges to plan ministries, budgets, and activities for the upcoming year. If you submitted your family's pledge...thanks. If you haven't, pray about your offering and ask the ushers on Sunday for a pledge card. Remember this year's campaign slogan..."IT'S IN OUR HANDS!"

MAKE A DIFFERENCE EVERYDAY!

Three senior citizens in Bangor, Maine have spent every day of the past six years at the small airport near their home. Their purpose: to greet every soldier who returns from the Middle East, no matter what time the plane lands. They've dedicated the years they have left to the young men and women of our military. Their mere presence has made a difference to over 1 MILLION American heroes. What small gesture can you do today to make a difference to your family, your church, your co-workers, your neighbors, or a stranger? Volunteer, serve...make a difference every day!

LEAD BY EXAMPLE...THEY LEARN FROM US!

CHILI COOKOFF WINNERS!

I've been asked numerous times about this year's chili cookoff winners. For those of you who missed the event, a chili cookoff was held October 25th to kickoff this year's Stewardship Campaign. The men coordinated the contest, the youth served, trophies were awarded and fun was had by all. Here are the results:
Winner of Hottest Chili - Craig Reeder (award accepted by wife Caroline and son Zane)

Winner of Most Unique Chili - Amy Gorman

Winner of Best Overall Chili - Danny Schott

Yes gentlemen, we were beat by a 10 year old! I congratulated his father on the win. I was then informed that Danny "googled" award winning chili, had his parents take him to buy the ingredients, and prepared it all himself! Congratulations Danny on a job well done!

SAINT MARGARET'S DAY BBQ!

A special thanks goes out to all the men who participated in making this year's Saint Margaret's Day BBQ such a success. For those of you who missed this year, here's a recap. Nearly 30 guys spent all or part of the night at the parish preparing the pork for the feast Sunday morning. A bonfire was made, 130 pounds of bbq were cooked, tons of laughs were had, and once again...the men worked hard for the good of the parish.

Thanks to all of you, including those who stayed to help clean up! Great job guys!
